Raywell Hall Spa Castaway - Dog Friendly Lodge Stay

Updated: Sep 7, 2023

We recently enjoyed a lovely stay at Raywell Hall Country Park lodges staying in their pet friendly 'Spa Castaway' Lodge.

Raywell Hall Country Lodge Park is situated within the grounds of the historic Raywell Hall and 29 acres of sprawling East Yorkshire countryside it is the perfect location for a relaxing break. The site itself is split into three sections The Pastures, The Woodlands and The Westwood each home to around 25; 1,2 and 3 bedroom lodges. They offer a self check in option for some of their lodges so we were lucky enough to be able to head straight there when we arrived.

Our lodge was located in The Pastures which also is where Reception and Millers tearoom is situated.

As you enter the front door of the lodge there is a useful utility area which we used to store Chester's things.

The open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen is light and equipped with everything you need including all the essentials and a coffee machine. The lounge is snug and features a Smart TV which we enjoyed being able to access Stranger Things on netflix! It has three spacious bedrooms. The master featuring a double bed and spacious ensuite with a walk-in shower and a Smart TV. There is a further double room and a twin.

French doors open from the dining area onto a secure gated decking area with garden furniture and the hot tub overlooking a grass area sealed off from onlookers with an abundance of full native trees. What we loved about this hot tub is the fact that it is checked and cleaned twice a day by the grounds staff and kept at a constant temperature throughout your stay. This meant we could just dip in and out whenever we felt like it and didn't have to think about heating it ourselves and waiting for it to warm up! Additionally having the gated decking area was perfect as it meant we could relax without having to be worried about what Chester would get up to.

As you walk down the steps from the decking area you enter another smaller area with garden furniture under a modern pagoda and brick area for those summer BBQs. The decking area quickly became Chester's favourite viewing spot which overlooks the grass area and daybeds.

Chester was welcomed with treats, blankets, bowls and poo bags in his very own Dogstation which was a great feature and really handy to store his harness and lead. Raywell really thought about the features that they put into the pet friendly lodges. Every feature added a home away from home feel and made travelling with Dogs easier.

As well as the dogstation they had included a toy basket, bowls, bowl mat and the cutest dog daybed with a paw print cushion.

Chester loved the toy basket, it kept the lodge free from toys scattered everywhere which is usually the case when we stay anywhere with Chester. (He likes to take all his toys out to decide which one he's in the mood to play with at that specific time, he however does not put them back into his basket even though he is trained to do so)

Once we had explored the lodge we were welcomed with a bottle of Raywells own Prosecco which went down a treat on the decking in the evening sun.

The decking area is surrounded by fairy lights which is the perfect touch when relaxing late into the summer evening after a tasty BBQ..

Although there are many lodges onsite the layout of each lodge and its surrounding land gives a secluded feeling with neighbouring lodges far from view.

From the doorstep of the lodge you're able to enjoy some lovely country walks including the Nutwood 5 mile circular directly from the Raywell site. On the coffee table of the lodge there is a folder with an extensive guide of local attractions, places to eat and things to do. I loved this touch as it meant we didn't have to spend time researching these things for ourselves and could enjoy our time more easily without planning too much! Both Cottingham and Beverley are just a short drive away and boasts a number of amazing dog friendly pubs, restaurants and cafes which we took full advantage of on our stay.

I will do a blog on dog friendly Beverley soon

We absolutely adored our stay with Raywell and wish we could do it all over again!
