If you’ve been following us for a while then you’ll know how much I love exploring the UK with Chester & Crumble! Whether we’re heading off into the countryside, along to the coast or finding a good dog friendly city, it’s always really fun to seek out the best and most extra Dog-friendly spots.
So if a dog-friendly glamping trip in the UK is on the cards, then you’re going to love this one…Even more so if you have a nervous or reactive dog!
My Happy Hounds In East Cowton, opened their new glamping pods in May of this year (2024). Previously the 7 acre site was exclusively home to their two ultra dog friendly secure fields; Nellie and Harvey (which we are regular visitors of!). Now they have expanded into Dog Friendly Glamping too! With how special their secure fields are, I instantly knew how great the pods would be!
As you enter the site you can head to the left which takes you to Nellies & Harveys fields and then to the right is the new glamping site. Currently My Happy Hounds has three pods, Hugo, Riley & Woody.
We stayed in the Hugo pod last week and had such a great stay! We accessed our pod via self-check in, which was quick and easy.
The whole My Happy Hounds site is designed for dogs.
The layout of the pods is the same across all three; featuring a open plan layout with the living/dining area as you walk in with a double bed at the back of the pod and a corner bathroom opposite with a toilet, sink and enclosed shower.
Now onto the outside...
Probably the pups favourite part! They spent much of our time here in the garden area.
The large grass area which is completely enclosed with 6ft fencing, makes this the most perfect dog friendly glamping experience.
The garden area features private enclosed parking, Patio area with chairs, chiminea, picnic bench, BBQ and covered seat with a outside water bowl for the dogs too!
Allison and Harry have created such a special dog friendly space with the three pods.
They have made the best space possible for owners and dogs to relax with peace of mind and privacy. If thats what your searching for, for your next dog friendly glamping experience then you've hit the jackpot with My Happy Hounds!
Once we checked-in, we let the dogs enjoy zoomies in the garden with their new frisbees while I unpacked the car.
We then ventured out to grab some dinner and headed into Darlington which is the nearest place for supermarkets, but not before having a argument with Chester that we were indeed coming back to the Pod and not heading home.
Coming often for the secure field, Chester thought we'd just come for a run around and was reluctant to leave his new favourite place! Once we had persuaded Chester we were indeed coming back, we picked up some pasta for dinner and some evening snacks at the supermarket and headed back to the pod.
We sat for a while after dinner on the patio, taking in the view and watching the sun set into night fall while the pups just mooched around the garden. Once the sky had taken on the deep, cold blue hue, we retuned to the warmth of the pod for a movie before bed.
After a very peaceful night sleep, I rose early to both Chester & Crumble immediately demanding to be let out of the patio doors. I made a apple and cinnamon tea and let them out while I sat on the patio. After a stressful few weeks in our house we decided that this would be a decompression trip for all of us and we just enjoyed our time in the Pod without venturing into the surrounding area.

Isn’t this just perfect. I have a reactive dog and it’s so hard to find places to stay with her. But this she would love!
